According to the Redwood City Police Department, a citizen witnessed a man pulling the small pup by its leash, swinging the animal in the air, and then slamming it full force onto the ground over and over. Throughout the horrific ordeal, the man recorded everything he did to the dog with his cell phone.

Thanks to a security camera in the area, the suspect’s images were posted to social media. Police apprehended Michael Fore just two days after the abusive incident. As police attempted to arrest Fore, he tried to climb out of his third-floor apartment onto a balcony. Officers were waiting for him and took him into custody.

Fore was charged with felony animal cruelty and booked in the San Mateo County Jail. Thankfully, local detectives found the dog’s owner who was unaware of the abuse. The pup was located, is doing well, and showed no signs of permanent injury.

On their Facebook page, Redwood City Police Department wrote, “Thank you for all the Social Media support in identifying the subject in the animal cruelty case. Because of our social media community, we were able to identify the subject.”

Great job in getting this terrible person off the streets and away from animals! The power of social media is truly amazing!
